Autumns Holds no Secrets as to how Summer was Spent

Right now we are in my favorite part of the season, besides the championships of course, but thats a completely different chapter and we got some time before that fiasco. We are in the early-early season, and some are still in preseason, where we can we witness the culmination of our summers hard work and sacrifice. After putting in a solid amount of summer miles and workouts, I was alway curious and excited to see what would become of my performances, if I was really going to fly like I had dreamed about all summer. Sure, I ran road races in the summer, but they never compared to the rush of Cross Country racing that I love. Although I spent the summer training with my teammates, I was always eagerly waiting to see how I stacked up against them, and how we looked versus ourselves 12 months ago at our time trial. Once we began to see what we were forming into as a team, we would then start looking forward and seeing what kind of force we would be in races against the other teams, we knew what we had, and we knew it was good, no it was great. But would it be what was needed to overcome sectional powerhouses? And our rivals who had always stood in front of our chance at competing in the State Championships? Would we crack into the Federation “Fab Five”? Questions likes these, and our summer long absence from the sport made the first meet a truly exciting event. Although these questions would not be answered in the week leading up the first meet, or even after the conclusion of this highly anticipated event. It was the starting off point of the journey and experience where all these questions and more would be answered. And this is why this is my favorite part of the season. It is the beginning of where all the investments start paying back, where what you have done in preparation on your own begins to shine outwards through your racing. A huge share of the work has been done, although there is still plenty more to be done down the road, but this is where the real fun begins.

Did you have some goals that you are determined to get this season that you would like share? What have you done prepare for them? How does the upcoming first race make you feel? If you have race already, how did you feel about the upcoming season after this race?
